Jo Dipple, former chief executive of umbrella trade organization UK Music, has joined Live Nation as senior vp, public affairs.
Dipple announced that she was standing down from the top job with UK Music in January, almost nine years after joining the London-based trade body as director of government relations.
She was promoted to acting CEO in November 2011, after Feargal Sharkey -- former singer of the Undertones and co-founder of the organization -- resigned with immediate effect and was officially appointed CEO in January 2012.
During her time at UK Music, Dipple successfully lobbied national and local government on copyright issues, protecting the United Kingdom's live music industry and recognizing the vital role that the BBC plays in supporting British culture and music.
Prior to joining the organization, Dipple -- who is a trustee of the Mayor's Music Fund and the MOBO Trust -- acted as strategic advisor to the British Prime Minister and worked on two winning general election campaigns.
Former Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport Michael Dugher was appointed her successor as UK Music chief executive in April, taking up his position a month later.
“Jo has remarkable credentials in the music industry, with an unrivaled level of expertise in her field,” said John Reid, president, concerts for Live Nation Europe in a statement announcing Dipple’s appointment. Reid went on to say that she was joining Live Nation “at a time where live entertainment continues to go from strength to strength” and that she would help “grow our brand across the world.”
