Lana Del Rey Leaps to Top Five on Billboard Artist 100 Chart, Linkin Park Returns to No. 1

Lana Del Rey roars to a new peak of No. 2 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated Aug. 12), as her latest studio album, Lust for Lifedebuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 107,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 27, according to Nielsen Music.

The Artist 100, which launched in July 2014, measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.

The No. 2 placement surpasses Rey's previous peak of No. 5 on the Oct. 10, 2015-dated chart, then sparked by the arrival of her previous album, Honeymoon. Album sales contribute the majority of Del Rey's current Artist 100 points (89 percent).

Atop the Artist 100, Linkin Park returns to No. 1 (4-1) to become the top musical act in the U.S. for a second total week. The group first led the list dated June 10 concurrent with its No. 1 start on the Billboard 200 with its latest studio album, One More Light. The set returns to the top five of the Billboard 200 (17-4), up 122 percent to 50,000 units. The group rules the Artist 100 after the July 20 death of frontman Chester Bennington.

Rounding out the Artist 100's top five, Tyler, The Creator re-enters at a new peak of No. 3 as his latest album, Flower Boy, debuts at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 (106,000 units); Ed Sheeran drops 2-4 on the Artist 100; and Bruno Mars slips 3-5.
