Ed Sheeran, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee Continue to Dominate Australias Charts

Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee make it a dozen weeks at the summit of the Australia’s singles chart with “Despacito” (Republic/Universal) as Ed Sheeran racks up another stint atop the national albums survey.

The benchmark-setting “Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber, has just become the first video to reach 3 billion views and is indisputably one of the biggest global hits of the year. In Australia, it’s clocked up quadruple-platinum (280,000 units) en route to its 12 straight weeks atop the ARIA Singles Chart, and it’s also currently ensconced at the top of the charts in U.S. the U.K.

Imagine Dragons “Thunder” (Interscope/Universal) doesn’t enough noise to elevate from its position at No. 2 on Australia's chart, while Calvin Harris’ “Feels,” featuring Pharrell WilliamsKaty Perry and Big Seanis unchanged at No. 3; Liam Payne’s “Strip That Down” (Columbia/Sony), featuring Quavo, stays at No. 4 and Macklemore’s “Glorious” (ADA/Warner), featuring Skylar Grey, continues its impressive climb. The track’s recent chart journey has seen it rise 15-7-5.

Also enjoying a solid improvement this week is Kesha’s “Praying” (RCA/Sony), up 16-7 for the singer-songwriter’s eighth top ten on the tally and the first since “Die Young” went to No. 3 in November 2012. And country singer Sam Hunt cracks the top ten for the first time with “Body Like A Back Road” (MCA/Universal). It’s up 15-10 in its seventh week on the chart.

Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran’s Divide (Warner) shows remarkable stamina to log an 18th week at No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, and it does so by holding off five strong debuts, led by Arcade Fire’s fifth album Everything Now (Columbia/Sony), which starts at No. 2 for the Canadian alternative rockers’ highest chart position to date.

Also, 2017 The Voice Australia champ Judah Kelly opens at No. 3 with Count On Me (Universal), veteran rocker Alice Cooper’s 27th studio album Paranormal (Sony) is new at No. 4, former ARIA male artist of the year-winner Dan Sultanbows at No. 5 with Killer (Liberation/Universal) and Passenger’s The Boy Who Cried Wolf (Black Crow Records) enters at No. 6.
