Tristan Boutros, former chief of operations at New York Times, is joining performing rights organization ASCAP as chief technology officer.
In his new position based in New York, Boutros will lead ASCAP's technology strategy, working with the Digital Product, Data Strategy and Operations teams on global IT systems and infrastructure to support the organization's cloud strategy. He'll report to executive vice president and COO Brian Roberts.

"His experience helping top organizations achieve their technology goals make him the perfect person for this role.”
Prior to joining New York Times, Boutros served as senior vp of technology and business process at Warner Music Group, and has also held senior technology roles at Blackberry and IAC.

Boutros is the latest to join a growing list of ASCAP executives with deep backgrounds in the digital sphere, including evp, chief strategy & digital officer Alice Kim and Tony Dunaif, evp and head of international affairs. Recently, ASCAP announced a new partnership with fellow performing rights organization BMI to work together on a single database of musical works, an effort to boost transparency in licensing.
