Snapchat Crowd Surf Makes One Big Concert Video of Everybodys Snaps

Watching your friends concert footage on Snapchat is cool and everything, but do you ever wish you could watch for longer than 10 seconds? And wouldn't it be dope if you could get a better seat than they do? Like right where the lead singer jumped into the crowd?

Now you can, thanks to Snapchat's latest breakthrough in clip technology, the “crowd surf.” It uses artificial intelligence to figure out when multiple parties are snapping the same concert, then it stitches the snaps together to create seamless video streaming. When footage overlaps, you can choose your preferred angle with a simple tap (a spinning phone icon appears in the bottom right corner to let you know a scene switch is possible).

TechCrunch filmed an example of a Snap Crowd Surf at Lorde's recent Outside Lands headlining performance in San Francisco. You can check it out for yourself below, although the tapping function won't work on YouTube.

Will this be enough to get more Snappers snapping again in the face of popular Instagram stories? Stay tuned.
