Vinyl Me, Please is providing hip-hop lovers a grand opportunity to stock up on some vinyl with their newest endeavor. For the first time ever, The Notorious B.I.G.'s 1994 debut opus Ready to Die will be issued on colored vinyl.
The remastered vinyl will include the original cover, but will be pressed on red and white splattered records. In addition to Biggie's Ready to Die, Vinyl Me, Please will officially launch a new subscription service solely for its hip-hop demographic.
Current members of VMP who have signed up to receive Ready to Die can now tack on the latest hip-hop-based subscription for an additional $23/month. The first record they'll receive will be Noname's acclaimed 2016 project Telefone, followed by Common's 2002 album Electric Circus. For Noname, this will mark the first time Telefone has ever been pressed on vinyl.
"Over the past few years we've built a solid core of rap and hip-hop fans among our member base with reissues ranging from Madvillainy to Main Source, as well as special-edition projects with Earl Sweatshirt, Young Thug, Future and others," said Cameron Schaefer, head of music, Vinyl Me, Please, in a statement to Billboard. "In the process we recognized the need for a dedicated rap and hip-hop subscription to dive deeper into the genre and help reintroduce the vinyl experience to a new generation of rap and hip-hop fans."
Non-members can sign up to join a waitlist. After that, they'll be notified as soon as the genre subscription becomes live. Take a look at some of the vinyl below.
