Avicii Arrives in Top Dance/Electronic Albums Charts Top 10

Avicii ascends to the top 10 on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart (dated Sept. 2) with AVICI (01). The set storms 19-3 after its first full tracking week, earning 9,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music. Traditional album sales account for 3,000 of the sum, as the EP crowns Dance/Electronic Album Sales (4-1). The set is the superstar DJ/producer's fourth Top Dance/Electronic Albums top 10 and follows Stories, which debuted at No. 1 on Oct. 24, 2015.

Avicii also attacks Hot Dance/Electronic Songs with four new entries, giving him 28 total charted songs since the chart's January 2013 inception and catapulting him past Skrillex (26) and David Guetta (25) into second place among all acts; Calvin Harris leads with 30. Two AVICI (01) tracks start in the top 20: "Without You," featuring Sandro Cavazza (No. 18; 2.8 million U.S. streams and 3,000 downloads sold), and "Lonely Together," featuring Rita Ora (No. 19; 2.9 million streams, 2,000 sold).

"Without" is also new at No. 28 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay, extending Avicii's streak to six straight years with at least one song on the chart, dating back to 2011's No. 4 "Seek Bromance" (when Avicii was credited as Tim / Berg).

SWEET SUCCESS: A toast to Marshmello, as the masked DJ earns his highest-ranking hit, and second 10, following "Alone" (No. 9 in February) on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs as "Silence," featuring Khalid, debuts at No. 6. It launches as Marshmello's first No. 1 on Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs (12.5 million U.S. streams). "Silence" also starts at No. 4 on Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales, his highest ranking on the tally, with 15,000 downloads sold.

On the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, "Silence" is likewise Marshmello's highest-charting title, debuting at No. 42. "Alone" reached No. 60.

PUTH'S FIRST No. 1: Shifting to Dance/Mix Show Airplay, Charlie Puth parades to his first leader with "Attention" (2-1). The track surpasses his previous best, "See You Again" (by Wiz Khalifa featuring Puth), which hit No. 3 in 2015. "Attention," a midtempo track in its original form, was remixed by Bingo PlayersOliver Heldens and PeteDown, among others. (The Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart reflects plays on a select panel of full-time dance radio stations and during mix show hours on more than 80 top 40 stations.)

Also on the chart, Cheat Codes collect their first Dance/Mix Show Airplay top 10 with "No Promises," featuring Demi Lovato, who adds her second and highest-charting top 10 (16-7). Plus, Liam Payne leaps 20-9 with "Strip That Down," featuring Quavo, marking their respective first and third solo trips to the top 10.
