Shawn Mendes First Artist Under 20 to Land Three No. 1s on Adult Pop Songs Chart

Shawn Mendes' "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back" rises 2-1 to top Billboard's Adult Pop Songs radio airplay chart (dated Sept. 9). The singer-songwriter earns his third No. 1 on the list, following his debut entry "Stitches," which led the Feb. 6, 2016-dated chart, and "Treat You Better," which ruled for six weeks beginning in October 2016.

(The Adult Pop Songs chart measures total weekly plays, as tabulated by Nielsen Music, among its reporting panel of 87 adult top 40 stations.)

As Mendes turned 19 on Aug. 8, he becomes the first act to have tallied three Adult Pop Songs No. 1s before age 20. He bests a pair of artists who each earned two leaders to that point: Avril Lavigne ("Complicated," 2002; "I'm With You," 2003) and Lorde ("Royals," 2013; "Team," 2014).

As previously reported, "Nothing" ascended to No. 1 on the mainstream top 40-based Pop Songs airplay chart dated Aug. 26.

On the all-genre airplay-, streaming- and sales-based Billboard Hot 100, "Back" has hit a No. 6 high so far. Check back later today for highlights of the new, Sept. 9-dated Hot 100's top 10. All charts will update tomorrow (Aug. 29) on Billboard.com.
