Disco has been rockin' since the '70s, house music since the early '80s, and techno since a few years after that, but in 2017, the Electronic Music Awards will honor the biggest and brightest names in the dance music scene for the first time ever.
It's not the Grammys. It's not the VMAs. This is a night dedicated to nothing but the beat. It's going down Thursday, Sept 21, at the Willow Studios in the downtown Los Angeles art district, and because it's a celebration, there are some fabulous musical guests.
Legends of the scene are slotted to perform alongside newcomers and nominees. Moby, Orbital, Illenium, Autograf, Goldfish, Kidnap Kid, Floorplan (live), Madeaux, and Ramzoid are scheduled to show their stuff via the official Twitter livestream broadcast.
The EM Awards promise to be unlike any award show you've ever seen. There will be no seats, for one, and no acceptance speeches. Most of the evening will be filled by these performers, so put your dancing shoes on and expect a party.
The show is executive produced by Paul Oakenfold, and will be hosted by Billboard Dance's founding editor Matt Medved and DJ/producer Hannah Rad. The broadcast begins at 7:47 pm PST on Sept. 21. Visit the EM Awards online for tickets and more information.
