Charli XCX had a banner night at the SESAC Pop Awards on Thursday, earning songwriter of the year honors as well as song of the year for writing the Selena Gomez-fronted hit, "Same Old Love." The British singer-songwriter swept the same two awards back in 2014 with "I Love It," recorded by Icona Pop and featuring herself.
"Everyone here is a big family and I feel very welcome, so thank you very much," she said in her acceptance speech at the event, held at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York. "A shout to everyone who looks after me over there."
Sony/ATV was awarded publisher of the year, and attendees were treated to performances by Jaheim and SESAC Legacy Award recipient George Clinton, who played "We Want the Funk."
SESAC artists Green Day, the Avett Brothers and Young the Giant also had their songs honored with performance awards.
