Irish band the Script have scored their fourth U.K. No. 1 album, as Freedom Child (Columbia/Sony) goes straight in at the top. Taylor Swift starts a second week atop the singles chart with “Look What You Made Me Do” (EMI/Universal).
Starting with their self-titled 2008 debut, the Script have made the summit with all their studio releases except for 2012's Number 3, which peaked in runner-up spot. According to the Official Charts Company, their new release moved twice the combined units of Ed Sheeran's ÷ (Asylum/Warner), which holds at No. 2.
LCD Soundsystem arrive at a career-best No. 3 with American Dream (DFA/Columbia), while electronic pioneers Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Darkstart at No. 4 with The Punishment of Luxury (100 Percent), extending their album chart career to 37 years and giving them their best ranking since Sugar Tax reached No. 3 in 1991. Last week's new entry at No. 1, Villains (Matador) by Queens of the Stone Age, falls to No. 5.
There's another career high at No. 6, as Scottish indie long-runners Mogwai enter with Every Country's Sun (Rock Action). Singer-songwriter Jake Bugg debuts at No. 7 with Hearts That Strain (EMI/Universal).
As well as retaining the No. 1 singles spot with “Look What You Made Me Do,” Swift also has the highest new entry of the week, as “...Ready For It?” appears at No. 7, after only five days on sale. The former chart-topper “New Rules” (Warner Bros./Warner Music) by Dua Lipa holds at No. 2, as does Pink's “What About Us” (RCA/Sony) at No. 3.
“Friends” (DefJam/Polydor/Republic/ Universal) by Justin Bieber & BloodPop is back up 5-4 and there's a 9-5 climb for “Mi Gente” (Blue Wrasse) by J Balvin and Willy William. Demi Lovato makes a 12-9 move with “Sorry Not Sorry” (Hollywood).
