John Mayers Search for Everything Tour Has Earned Nearly $50 Million (So Far)

John Mayer has wrapped the final North American leg of his Search for Everything World Tour that played arenas and outdoor amphitheaters in the U.S. and Canada during a seven-week stretch this summer. The Connecticut-born singer-songwriter headlined shows in 32 cities during the run, topping $28 million in box office revenue from more than 425,000 sold tickets. Sales from the North American jaunt earn the artist the No. 1 slot on Billboard’s weekly slate of Hot Tours (see list below). In total, the tour has brought in nearly $50 million from box office totals reported since the tour launched in March.

Produced by Live Nation, the tour’s summer trek kicked off on July 18 with an outdoor shed date at Albuquerque’s Isleta Amphitheater and ended at Klipsch Music Center in the Indianapolis market on Sept. 3. Along with the 20 amphitheaters and 12 arenas on the schedule, Mayer also headlined one evening at the California Mid State Fair in July. The Night Game and Dawes both provided support for the tour on select dates during the run.

Mayer launched the tour at the end of March in support of his seventh studio album, The Search For Everything, which arrived on April 14. The opening leg was a run through 15 arenas in North American markets during April that grossed over $14 million with an attendance count near 200,000. In May he traveled to Europe for a string of headlining dates, including a two-night stint at London’s O2 Arena that earned more than $1.7 million in revenue from 30,709 sold seats.

The concerts on the tour feature three separate sets, including Mayer’s solo acoustic songs as well as a section with a full band and, finally, a set with the John Mayer Trio. So far gross sales from the tour are close to the $50 million mark, based on box office totals reported since the tour began. Since the spring opener, about 685,000 fans have passed the turnstiles at 52 performances on both continents.

A final jaunt through Brazil and Argentina remains before the Search for Everything Tour wraps at the end of October. The Latin American leg will include shows in six cities, beginning with a stadium concert in São Paulo, Brazil, on Oct. 18.
