Performing rights organization ASCAP has announced plans to stage its 13th annual ASCAP "I Create Music" Expo on May 7-9, 2018 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles. The three-day program, described as the nation's largest conference for songwriters, composers, artists and producers, consists of panels, workshops, classes and keynotes and attracts thousands of participants.
"When we started the ASCAP EXPO, the vision was always to create a sense of community and offer songwriters a chance to network and hear from their peers and idols. One of our EXPO high points was the presentation last year of the inaugural ASCAP 'Key of Life' Award to Stevie Wonder and the chance to hear him perform and talk about his life and music," said ASCAP executive vp / chief marketing officer Lauren Iossa. "That was an incredible moment, and every year EXPO attendees have one-of-a-kind opportunities like this to be inspired to take the next step in their careers."
Additional artists, songwriters and producers who appeared at the 12th edition of the expo include Michael McDonald, Desmond Child, Aloe Blacc, James Fauntleroy, Ashley Gorley, Malik Yusef, Dave Bassett, Bibi Bourelly, among others.
ASCAP boasts a membership of 625,000 and represents more than 10 million copyrighted works. It is owned and governed by its writer and publisher members.
Registration for the 2018 event, as well as program highlights, will be announced at a later date.
