Foo Fighters Become Four-Time U.K. Album Champions With Concrete and Gold

Foo Fighters score their fourth No. 1 album in the U.K., entering the Official Charts Company survey at the top with their ninth studio release Concrete and Gold (Columbia/Sony). Sam Smith starts a second week at the singles summit with “Too Good At Goodbyes” (Capitol/Universal).

Concrete and Gold had first-week combined units of 61,000, extending their span of album bestsellers to 15 years, since One by One achieved the feat. They also led the way with Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace in 2007 and Wasting Light in 2011.

Electronic music trailblazer Gary Numan enters at No. 2 with Savage (Songs From A Broken World) (BMG). It's his highest-ranking album since Living Ornaments 1979-1980 reached the same position in 1981. Ed Sheeran's ÷(Asylum/Warner) holds at No. 3, the Script's Freedom Child (Columbia/Sony) moves back 5-4 and Rag 'n' Bone Man's long-running Human (Best Laid Plans/Columbia/Sony Music) slips 4-5.

Rap-rock supergroup Prophets of Rage arrive at No. 6 with their self-titled first album (Caroline/Universal) and, in the wake of its triumph at the Hyundai Mercury Prize, Sampha's Process (Young Turks) re-enters at No. 7. The album debuted in that position in February; its victory prompted a 517% rise in combined units.

With Smith steady at the singles summit, Dua Lipa's former No. 1 “New Rules” (Warner Bros./Warner Music) holds in runner-up spot. Pink's “What About Us” (RCA/Sony) climbs back 4-3, changing places with Taylor Swift's “Look What You Made Me Do” (EMI/ Universal).

“Rockstar” (Republic/Universal) by Post Malone featuring 21 Savage is the highest new entry of the week at No. 5. “Havana” (Epic/Syco/Sony) by Camila Cabello featuring Young Thug climbs from No. 10 to a new peak of No. 7, while “Lonely Together” (Positiva) by Avicii featuring Rita Ora races 21-10.
