The Killers Enjoy Wonderful Lead on Midweek U.K. Albums Chart

The Killers are killing it on the U.K. midweek albums chart.

The Las Vegas pop-rock outfit's Wonderful Wonderful (EMI) has opened up a huge lead on the Official Albums Chart Update with more than 40,000 combined chart sales, some four times the sum of Foo Fighters second-placed Concrete and Gold (Columbia), according to the Official Charts Company.

Each of The Killers' previous four albums have hit the top (Hot Fuss, Sam's Town, Day & Age and Battleborn) and the U.S. outfit will keep their streak going if Wonderful Wonderful stays put when the weekly chart is published this Friday (Sept. 29).

In a big week for new releases, British alternative rock outfit Enter Shikari's The Spark (PIAS) opens at No. 3, veteran singer-songwriter Van Morrison’s Roll With The Punches (Exile) starts at No. 4 and Black Country Communion’s BCCIV (Mascot) begins at No. 5, while fresh recordings from HorrorsMarc Almond and Reverend & The Makers are poised for top 10 debuts.

Meanwhile, Sam Smith's comeback single “Too Good At Goodbyes” (Capitol) is on track for a third week at the summit of the singles tally. Its No. 1 on the Official Singles Chart Update, ahead of Dua Lipa's former chart-topper “New Rules” (Warner Bros) and Post Malone’s “Rockstar” (Republic) featuring 21 Savage.
