Matthew E. Whites Spacebomb Partners With Glassnotes Resolved Records

Spacebomb Group, the collaborative label, studio, house band, publisher and artist management startup founded by Matthew E. White, has entered into an all-encompassing strategic partnership with Glassnote Entertainment Group's Resolved Records. As part of the arrangement, Resolved will provide financial, marketing and industry expertise to White and fellow Spacebomb owner Ben Baldwin as they expand operations.

Based in Richmond, Va. and Bristol, U.K., Spacebomb began in 2010 as a label and recording studio complete with a house band, akin to Stax Records and its legendary combo of players, Booker T. & the M.G.'s. It has produced and released debut albums by White, Natalie Press, Bedouine, and has lent its house band model to bands including Foxygen, The Waterboys  and Cocoon. The collective first caught Glassnote's eye when it collaborated on an album project with label artist Flo Morrissey.

"We were impressed by their creative vision and by joining forces saw a huge capacity and potential for growth," said Chris Scully, gm and CFO of Glassnote. "Resolved was created to support entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial ventures that want to grow and Spacebomb Group is exactly that. Investing in Spacebomb is an investment in the future."

Daniel Glass, president and founder of Glassnote, called Spacebomb "truly unique, with an exceptional studio and a creative house band of musicians at its heart, much like legendary record labels like Stax and Motown. Matthew and his team have already created their own instantly recognizable sound and we’re thrilled to work with them to expand their reach and horizons, and to introduce new artists to this new fantastically creative hub."

Glassnote launched Resolved Records in 2014 and specializes in offering tailored support and services to emerging entrepreneurs, producers and indie labels. The label, which gets distribution from UMG, recently acquired the Jerden Records Catalog, consisting of labels including Jerden, Picadilly, First American and Great Northwest.

"Everything I imagine at Spacebomb is driven by my hunger to make courageous, well crafted, art," commented White, whose latest album, a set of covers with Flo Morrissey, was released on Glassnote. "Daniel and his team recognize that, welcome it, and encourage it. It is tremendously exciting to work with a partner who believes so clearly, and holistically in what we do."
