The Killers re-enter the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated Oct. 14) to become the top musical act in the U.S. for the first time, as the alt-rock group earns its first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with its new album, Wonderful Wonderful. The set debuts with 118,000 equivalent albums units, according to Nielsen Music.
The Artist 100, which launched in July 2014, measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
Album sales contribute nearly all of The Killers' Artist 100 points (95 percent), as the set also debuts atop the Top Album Sales, Top Rock Albums and Alternative Albums charts.
The Killers also become the seventh act in the Artist 100's brief history to re-enter at the summit, and the second in a row, as Foo Fighters achieved the feat on last week's chart (dated Oct. 7).

Elsewhere on the Artist 100, Macklemore surges 97-10 in his second week on the chart as a soloist, as the rapper's new album GEMINI opens on the Billboard 200 at No. 2 (51,000 units). Macklemore previously reached No. 14 on the Artist 100 in 2016 as half of duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
Rounding out the chart's top five, Imagine Dragons climb 3-2, Taylor Swift falls 2-3, Ed Sheeran holds at No. 4 and Post Malone rises 6-5, marking his first week in the top five.
