Live Nation Acquires Utah Promoter United Concerts

Live Nation Entertainment has acquired United Concerts, the leading local promoter in Salt Lake City. United Concerts has 50-year-history promoting concerts in Utah, producing approximately 170 events a year in the state.

Live Nation and United Concerts have co-promoted shows together for a number of years and "the acquisition is a natural progression as they aim to bring even more live events to the community," according to a statement. United Concerts CEO Jim McNeil will take on the role of President, US Concerts -- Salt Lake City for Live Nation, reporting to Bob Roux, co-president, North America Concerts.

“Having partnered with United Concerts on hundreds of shows in the past we’re confident they are the right partners as Live Nation grows our presence in the market,” Roux says in a statement provided to Billboard.

“Becoming part of Live Nation is a strategic move that will benefit our operated venues, and Utah’s live music community at large,” adds McNeil. “We look forward to connecting artists with countless fans here in Salt Lake.”

The acquisition follows the August announcement from Vivint Smart Home Arena, home of the NBA’s Utah Jazz, that the sports and entertainment venue was switching to Ticketmaster. The arena had previously been a client of Veritix, which was purchased by AEG in 2015.
