Guns N Roses Stadium Run Earns $53 Million

Guns N’ Roses takes the top ranking on the latest weekly recap of Hot Tours (see list below) with $53 million in revenue reported from the third North American leg of its Not in This Lifetime… Tour. With concerts set in 15 stadiums during the seven-week summer run, the band performed for more than 535,000 fans.

The Live Nation-produced tour’s stadium trek kicked off on July 27 in St. Louis with a crowd of 36,382 at The Dome at America’s Center. San Antonio’s Alamodome was the site of the final stop on Sept. 8 with 38,490 fans present. The highest box office counts from the summer run came from the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on July 30. The home venue of the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings logged a $5.5 million take from 48,740 sold seats.

The jaunt through the U.S. and Canada followed a seven-week European leg that occurred during the spring and early summer. Prior to that a slate of dates in Japan and other Asian markets kicked off the year. Final box office counts have not been reported from the shows in Europe, but from the Asian and North American legs alone the overall sales total this year tops $100 million.

The Not in This Lifetime… Tour launched in 2016 beginning with a string of April dates in the U.S. and Mexico followed by the tour’s first North American stadium trek during the summer. After a 12-city swing through Latin America last fall, Guns N’ Roses ended 2016 with the No. 6 ranking on Billboard’s list of the year’s Top 25 Tours.

The tour will begin its final leg on Oct. 8 at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center, the first of 21 arenas booked in North American markets through the end of November.
