Kane Brown Vaults to Artist 100s Top Five & Tom Petty Holds at No. 1

Kane Brown vaults from No. 57 to No. 5 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated Oct. 28), as the country singer-songwriter's rereleased deluxe edition self-titled debut studio album hits a new peak at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart with 43,000 equivalent album units.

The Artist 100, which launched in July 2014, measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.

Album sales contribute the majority of Brown's Artist 100 points (47 percent), followed by digital song sales (36 percent). Brown -- who attains a first by topping all five of Billboard's country charts simultaneously -- currently sports two songs on the Billboard Hot 100, both of which reach new peaks: "What Ifs," featuring Lauren Alaina, at No. 27, and "Heaven," at No. 72. The tracks mark his first two top 10s on the Hot Country Songs chart, where "What Ifs" leads for a second week, having dethroned Sam Hunt's "Body Like a Back Road" after a record 34 weeks at No. 1.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers remain the top musical act in the U.S., leading the Artist 100 for a second consecutive (and third total) week, as the group's 1993 Greatest Hits set holds at its No. 2 peak on the Billboard 200 (47,000 units). The band continues to rule the ranking after Petty's death on Oct. 2. The group also becomes the just the second rock act to lead the list for at least three weeks, following duo Twenty One Pilots (four in 2016).

Rounding out the Artist 100's top five, Imagine Dragons climb 3-2, Ed Sheeranjumps 5-3 and Post Malone rises 6-4, as his "Rockstar," featuring 21 Savage, becomes his first No. 1 on the Hot 100.
