Wisins Victory debuts at No. 2 on Top Latin Albums Chart

Regional Mexican group Alta Consigna re-enters Top Latin Albums & Shakira scores 13th No. 1 on Latin Airplay.

Puerto Rican reggaeton rapper Wisindebuts at No. 2 on the Top Latin Albumschart (dated Dec. 23) as his fourth studio album Victory opens with 8,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Dec. 7, according to Nielsen Music. Out of that sum, 4,000 were in traditional album sales -- his second-largest sales week ever. Only the arrival of his 2014 set, El Regreso Del Sobreviviente, logged a bigger week: 7,000 sold, when it debuted and peaked at No. 3.

The new album -- released via Sony Music Latin -- is Wisin’s fourth solo effort to chart and third straight set to reach the top three. It follows Los Vaqueros: La Trilogia (No. 1 for two weeks in 2015) and El Regreso Del Sobreviviente. In 2004, he earned his first solo entry, El Sobreviviente, peaking at No. 20.

Wisin is also of course one-half of the duo Wisin & Yandel, which has notched 13 entries on Top Latin Albums, including eight top 10s (five of which were No. 1).

Victory was preceded by the single “Escapate Conmigo,” featuring Ozuna, which hit No. 3 on the Hot Latin Songs chart in July. The single also spent a week at No. 1 on the Latin Rhythm Airplay chart in September.

Elsewhere, regional Mexican group Alta Consigna re-enters the Top Latin Albums chart at No. 6 with No Te Pido Mucho (3,000 units; up 894 percent, with 2,000 in sales; up from a negligible figure in the previous week). The set, initially released through Rancho Humilde Entertainment back in January, returns to the list following its reissue through Sony Music Latin. The latter picked up the act and album in August. The set spent three weeks on the list in January and February, debuting and peaking at No. 5.

No Te Pido Mucho also re-enters Regional Mexican Albums at No. 1 (Alta Consigna’s first leader), surpassing its original peak of No. 3 in January. The act also notched a No. 10-peaking set in 2017 with Culpable Tu.

Lastly, Shakira picks up her 13th No. 1 on the Latin Airplay chart with “Perro Fiel,” featuring Nicky Jam, as the song jumps 2-1 (15.5 million in audience in the week ending Dec. 10, up 1 percent).

Shakira continues to have the most No. 1s among women in the 23-year history of the chart. In addition, among all acts, she is now tied with Romeo Santos for the third-most No. 1s overall. They both trail Enrique Iglesias (with 29) and Ricky Martin(16).

Concurrently, “Perro Fiel” also tops the Latin Rhythm Airplay chart, after being stuck in the runner-up slot for four straight weeks. It’s Shakira’s second leader on the tally, following 2016’s “Chantaje,” featuring Maluma, which ruled for three weeks.
