Steve Madden Music Program Announces 2017 Concert Series Lineup

Steve Madden Music is putting on its annual Concert Series for the 7th year, and for the first time ever, they've announced their entire lineup in advance. The program boasts one pop-up concert per month through the next few months at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg and tickets are free on a first-come-first-served basis.

This year’s series kicked off on March 28 with a sold-out show featuring up-and-coming electro-pop duo Marian Hill. April’s concert will star pop band PVRIS (tickets are available on April 7), and the rest of the lineup includes HindsMUNA, and Warpaint.

Billboard had the opportunity to interview Steve Madden himself to talk about the formation of the Music Program and the curation of this year’s lineup.

How did the Steve Madden Music program come about?

It started as really intimate in-store shows with Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, and has grown into this cool monthly concert in Brooklyn.

What do you believe the program adds to your brand?

Music has always been a big part of my life – I’ve always referred to my shoes as hits, similar to musicians. “This shoe is a hit, that shoe is a hit.” Music is one of my biggest inspirations behind our shoes.

How did you pick this year's bands?

I have a great partner in Steve Feinberg who helps me pick all of the music. He’s the expert. It just kind of happened that [all the artists are all-female or female-led]. For us, it’s all about great music.
