Khalid's hit single "Location" was officially certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America on Monday, commemorating more than one million units-worth of sales and streams.
Off Khalid's debut album, American Teen, "Location" topped the Urban Radio charts, hit the top three at Rhythmic Radio and the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The RIAA's certification program was launched with the gold record in 1958. Presently, the RIAA awards a gold honor for 500,000 units sold, a platinum honor for 1 million units sold and a diamond award for more than 10 million units sold, with 100 streams counting as one certifiable unit.
Khalid celebrated the accomplishment on social media, saying his "dreams are becoming reality."
