Ariana Grande has postponed her tour through June 5 following the terrorist attack on her concert in Manchester, England on Monday. Her label Republic Records, which is a subsidiary of the Universal Music Group, issued a brief statement to the press detailing the decision.
"Due to the tragic events in Manchester the Dangerous Woman tour with Ariana Grande has been suspended until we can further assess the situation and pay our proper respects to those lost," the statement reads. "The London O2 shows this week have been canceled as well as all shows thru June 5 in Switzerland. We ask at this time that we all continue to support the city of Manchester and all those families affected by this cowardice and senseless act of violence. Our way of life has once again been threatened but we will overcome this together. Thank you."
Grande was playing her sixth European date on her Dangerous Woman tour when a suicide bomber attacked concert-goers as they were leaving her concert at Manchester Arena, killing 22 individuals and injuring at least 59. The suspect, a 22-year-old British-born national of Libyan descent name Salman Abedi, lived less than four miles from the arena.
Shortly after the attacks, Grande's management at SB Productions issued a statement saying. "Tonight, our hearts are broken. Words cannot express our sorrow for the victims and families harmed in this senseless attack." Grande took to Twitter to express her grief and sympathy for those who died, saying she was "broken" by the attack.
"From the bottom of my heart, i am so so sorry. i don't have words," she wrote.
Canceled shows include two performances at the O2 Arena in London (May 25-26), a concert at the Sportspaleis in Belgium (May 28), two shows at Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland (May 31-June 1), and concerts at Festhale in Frankfurt, Germany (June 3) and Hallenstadion in Zurich, Switzerland (June 5).
According to a statement issued by Live Nation, refunds "will be granted to all ticketholders at the point of purchase for [the seven] cancelled shows."
If the singer resumes her tour after June 5, her next show would be June 7 at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris, followed by a concert at Halle Tony Garnier in Lyon, France (June 9). Grande is scheduled to wrap the European leg of her tour June 17 in Turin, Italy before heading to Latin American, Asia and then Australia and New Zealand.
