TuneIn App Users Can Now Rock Out to KROQ and Other CBS Music Stations

Devotees of the TuneIn streaming radio app will have more music stations to choose from beginning today. TuneIn and CBS Radio announced an expanded licensing partnership on Wednesday that brings the terrestrial giant's 80 music call letters, including big names like Los Angeles' KROQ and Chicago's WXRT, to the popular real-time radio app.

"When music fans want to learn about new artists and songs, they turn to radio more than any other medium. CBS Radio stations are among the leading music curators in the industry, and providing increased opportunities for listeners to experience our stations through TuneIn's broad reach is a win for fans nationwide," said Ezra Kucharz, president of CBS Local Digital Media.

Other marquee CBS stations now available on the TuneIn app include AMP Radio Los Angeles, US 99.5 Chicago and V-103 Atlanta, as well as WCBS, the talk radio powerhouse in New York City.

TuneIn, with its 60 million active users a month listening to 70,000-plus live radio stations and two million on-demand programs, has similarities to other free services like Pandora and iHeart Radio, but with a traditional radio feel since you're tuning directly into an on-air broadcast. The service also has a premium tier that lets subscribers listen to NFL, MLB and NBA games, plus audiobooks and commercial-free music stations.

In August, TuneIn announced a distribution partnership with RBMA Radio, the re-launched streaming platform of Red Bull Music Academy.
