Marc Anthonys Mexico Shows Top Newest Hot Tours Recap

Marc Anthony lands atop the latest Hot Tours recap (see list below) based on box-office counts from his sweep through six Mexican markets during May. The Latin pop star kicked off the brief tour on May 9 at Mexico City and continued through May 25 with a final show in Tijuana. Latin American concert promoter OCESA has reported grosses from three of the venues during the trek including the three-night opening engagement in the capital city.

Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional hosted Anthony on May 9, 10 and 11 and logged a total gross of $2.2 million from 28,811 sold tickets during the run. He followed those shows with two more OCESA-produced events: a May 19 concert in Monterrey and a performance the following evening in Guadalajara. Auditorio Citibanamex in Monterrey sold 6,136 tickets generating $692,206 in sales, and Guadalajara’s Auditorio Telmex reported an $870,157 take from 8,014 sold seats. Collectively, the reported Mexico shows earned $3.9 million.

Anthony last played the Mexico City and Monterrey venues in the summer of 2015 leading up to his fall co-headlining tour that year with Carlos Vives dubbed Unido2. His prior headlining appearance at the Guadalajara venue was the previous year: two concerts in May 2014.

Anthony is set to launch his Full Circle Tour later this summer with 15 shows scheduled stateside through Dec. 3. The North American run will kick off on Aug. 25 in Bridgeport, Conn. and wrap in Chicago. Among the markets to be covered during the tour are New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Dallas, Washington, D.C., Atlanta and Miami.

Also making an appearance on the weekly Hot Tours tally is Eric Clapton (No. 3) with sales reported from one of his rare concert dates this year. Following two-show stints in New York City and Los Angeles during March, the three-time Rock & Roll Hall of Famer performed three nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The sold out concerts on May 22, 24 and 25 drew a total of 14,319 fans, racking up $2.4 million at the box office. Clapton’s last engagement at the prestigious London concert venue was in 2015 from May 14 through 23. At seven sold out concerts during that run, his sales totaled $4.4 million from 31,367 sold tickets.
