Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band Announce Runaway Train Tour

Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band are going out, as the song says, on the road again.

After announcing a pair of hometown Detroit-area shows during May, Seger and company have revealed a full-scale 24-date Runaway Train Tour, starting Aug. 24 in Toledo, Ohio, and wrapping up Oct. 28 in Phoenix, although the announcement promises that "additional cities" will be added. Seger fan club pre-sales for many of the concerts begin June 6, with public on-sales starting June 9.

These will be Seger & the Silver Bullets' first live dates since finishing the Ride Out Tour on March 30, 2015, in Indianapolis. During November of that year Seger received the Billboard Legend of Live Award. "I've been (playing live) for so long; it's really what I got into this (music) to do," Seger told Billboard during the Ride Out Tour. "I like writing songs best of all, but you never lose that thrill of taking those (songs) you worked on and labored over and playing them for a live audience and seeing how they react." Seger also acknowledged that that he's "probably the least crazy about being on the road of anybody in the band," but the members of the Silver Bullet Band keep him coming back to the road.

"I have a great time on stage," Seger said. "The thing I look forward to is playing with these people. They're so much fun to play with and be with and they make my job easy 'cause they play great and sing great. So that's attractive. Everybody's just on board. Everybody's so committed. They always are. They show up ready to play, and it's wonderful."

Seger has been working on new music in Nashville and Detroit, but no release plans have been revealed yet.

Meanwhile, on Friday, Seger will be releasing new vinyl editions of his 1994 "Greatest Hits" album and his 1969 debut, Ramblin' Gamblin' Man. "Greatest Hits," issued on 150-gram and 180-gram vinyl, comes out as a two-LP set on Friday, with a limited purple vinyl edition available exclusively via BobSeger.com. The album, which was Billboard/Nielsen SoundScan's top Catalog Album of the Decade from 2000-2010, has been certified Diamond for sales of more than 10 million copies. Ramblin' Gamblin' Man, meanwhile, will also be released on blue vinyl on June 9.
