Interscope Geffen A&Ms New Chief Revenue Officer Is in Charge of Playlisting

Interscope Geffen A&M has promoted Gary Kelly to executive vp and Chief Revenue Officer at the label, and put him in charge of an increasingly important part of the business: playlists. IGA created the CRO job for Kelly, previously the head of revenue and digital, and said in its announcement that he'll oversee the combined revenue, digital marketing and production areas at the label.

Kelly and his team will also be in charge of all playlisting activities for IGA, including a newly created Director of Playlisting, who will act as an ambassador to streaming music services in order to promote the label's artists. "Gary is at the forefront of the business both in terms of changing the way we approach releasing our music and understanding how the public consumes it," said IGA Vice Chairman Steve Berman.

The Cleveland native started his career in music with Sony Music, where he worked in various marketing and sales positions. He left Sony for Universal Music Group and joined Interscope in 2010 as head of sales, before rising to head of revenue and digital in August 2014.
