Capitol Music Group Appoints No I.D. as Executive Vice President

Capitol Music Group has named veteran producer Dion "No I.D." Wilson as executive vice president. In his new role at the label, No I.D. will be responsible for A&R and production and will work with senior management to assist on the creative direction of CMG's collective of labels. He'll report directly to Ashley Newton, president of Capitol Music Group.

He will also continue to oversee his own label, ARTium Records; while in his previous role at Def Jam, he had signed Jhené AikoLogicBig Sean and Common to the label. At CMG, ARTium will also begin functioning in the artist management and music publishing spaces.

"I look forward to working with the entire Capitol team to build on the cultural impact of our music and further expand into the global markets," No I.D. said in a statement. "There is a legacy of great artists and important records at Capitol, and I look forward to helping create more history and building upon the company's great brand."

No I.D. joins Capitol after serving as executive vp and head of all A&R activities at Def Jam Recordings. He was promoted to that post in 2014 after initially joining Def Jam in 2011 as co-head of A&R. No I.D., who originally got his start as a producer for Common and famously mentored Kanye West early in West's own production career, owns an extensive list of credits that includes “Run This Town” by Jay Z feat. West and Rihanna, which won the Grammy for best rap song in 2010, as well as collaborations with Rick RossNasDrakeVince Staples and Method Man, among a slew of others. He also has contributed to projects by Toni BraxtonJanet JacksonEd Sheeran and Melanie Fiona.

"Dion's track record as a producer and executive is stellar and I couldn't be happier that he's in The Tower and that his creative abilities are already benefiting us greatly."
