Music supervisor PJ Bloom, whose credits include the entire Glee series and over 50 films, has joined Warner Bros. Records as senior vice president of film and television music and soundtracks. The award-winning supervisor and publishing exec will oversee the placement of WBR artists across film, TV and other media, plus he'll handle soundtrack acquisitions across the label.
Over the course of his career, Bloom has worked on dozens of films with directors including Steven Spielberg, Jerry Bruckheimer and Ridley Scott. He made his biggest mark, though, during a record-setting run as MP on Ryan Murphy's Fox series Glee. In six years on the air (2009-15), the show's cast accumulated the most entries ever on the Hot 100 for any act, with 207. That feat toppled a record by Lil Wayne, who earlier had surpassed Elvis Presley for the honor.
In addition to film and TV, Bloom has created soundtracks for video games, amusement park rides and advertisements. He's also a partner at Neophonic Music & Media, whose credits include HBO's Vinyl, Westworld and Game of Thrones.
"PJ is one of the preeminent executives in film and television music today," said Cameron Strang, WBR's chairman and CEO. "He will immediately elevate WBR's profile in the areas of film, television and soundtracks, which have proven to be a powerful force in breaking new artists and expanding awareness for our artists and their music."
Bloom added that the label's decision to bring a music supervisor into the soundtracks role "signifies the label’s commitment to fundamental change within the field and acknowledges the importance of synchronization to WBR's success."
Bloom will be based in the label's Burbank headquarters, reporting to executive vp/gm Peter Gray.
