Users of the ticketing marketplace SeatGeek will start noticing a wider selection of events to choose from beginning today, thanks to a new distribution partnership with Eventbrite, the ticketing and event technology platform. The new integration means fans will be able to search for, and purchase, Eventbrite events from within the SeatGeek app or desktop site.
"Above all, we want to make sure that fans can access and buy tickets in the simplest way possible, and partnering with Eventbrite gives our users access to thousands of additional events each month," said Jack Groetzinger, co-founder and CEO of SeatGeek. "We strongly believe in the power of an open ticketing marketplace, which means not only distributing our primary inventory onto other partners, but receiving inventory from other platforms to support the open ecosystem we believe in."
Eventbrite handles ticketing for a number of festivals, including the Newport Folk festival and Okeechobee, and its venue clients range from Chicago's Lincoln Hall to Austin's Mohawk, among others. Earlier this month, it acquired Ticketfly from Pandora for $200 million. In February, the company launched Eventbrite Venue, an "integrated booking, operations and ticketing solution for live music venues," after it acquired Europe-based Ticketscript.
SeatGeek has been in expansion mode as well, having purchased Israeli-ticketing firm TopTix in April for $56 million. The platform is already the official ticketing partner of Major League Soccer, and it has a deal in place to sell Telecharge Broadway tickets.
"Eventbrite is focused on helping event creators sell more tickets, and making the process of securing a ticket as easy as possible for attendees, regardless of where they discover that event,” said Tamara Mendelsohn, vp of product at Eventbrite. “We share SeatGeek’s open approach to integrating with leading technology partners. This new partnership places our organizer’s events squarely in front of potential new fans, as well as helping people find great things to do.”
