Ibiza is a global destination for dance music lovers the world over, and much of its fabled glory is owed to its beautiful locale. The Spanish island sits among the beautiful blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea, and if you want those waters to stay beautiful, you have to give a hoot about conservation.
Non-profit organization Oceanic Global wants to put a dance floor spotlight on ecological initiatives. It's launching a series of parties that will raise money and awareness for ocean conservation, and it's launching its first event on the White Isle Thursday, July 20.
“Oceanic Global is thrilled to bring awareness for ocean conservation to the island of Ibiza,” Oceanic co-founder Lea d’Auriol is quoted in a press release. “Ibiza has longstanding roots in sustainability and we hope that Oceanic x Ibiza will inspire both locals and visitors alike to take action towards restoring the health of our global oceans and the harmony of the local atmosphere.”
Oceanic x Ibiza invites about 2,000 guests to what is being billed as the island's first-ever philanthropic music event, which will take place at Cala Jondal, Yemanja & Blue Marlin Ibiza. Headlined by Solomun, the event will pit a lineup of international DJ talent alongside expert speakers, art installations, virtual and augmented reality expositions, an artisan marketplace, film screenings, children's play areas, and partnership activations from participating brands and organizations.
All profits will be donated across three solution-based ocean conservation organizations. Partners include The United Nations Environmental Programme, The UN Sustainable Development Goals, Ibiza Preservation Fund, and The Ibiza Film Festival, and more. Speakers and screenings will include talks and panel discussion covering a number of ocean-related issues, representing 20 leading conservationists from around the world.
More DJs are yet to be announced, but tickets are available online today. Head over to Oceanic Global online for more information.
