Haim Holds Advantage in Race to U.K. Albums Chart Title

Haim has something to tell you: they’re on pace for another U.K No. 1 album.

The sister act is ruling the midweek albums chart with their sophomore album Something to Tell You (Polydor), the followup to 2013’s Days Are Gone

The sibling trio won’t be popping champagne just yet. Their album is less than 1,000 combined units ahead of Ed Sheeran’s blockbuster Divide (Asylum), which is at No. 2 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart Update.  If Something hold firm at the summit when the Official Albums Chart is published this Friday, the American group will have a perfect two-for-two after their debut Days Are Gone opened at No. 1 four years ago.

Londoners Public Service Broadcasting are on the verge of their best chart performance with Every Valley (PIAS), their third album which starts at No. 3 on the Chart Update.

There’s a touch of synchronicity about JAY-Z’s much hyped 14th album 4:44 (Roc Nation), which sits at No. 4 on the midweek chart. The hip-hop star’s new album soars from outside the top 100 after it was made available on Apple Music last Friday (July 7) at the conclusion of its week-long exclusive on his own streaming service Tidal.

On the midweek singles chart, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s "Despacito" (Def Jam/RBMG/ Republic/UMLE), featuring Justin Bieber, has the edge over DJ Khaled's “Wild Thoughts” (Black Butter/We The Best), featuring Rihanna andBryson Tiller, in the race to No. 1

If "Despacito" holds on until Friday (July 14), it will become just the 20th single to log at least nine weeks at No. 1, according to the Official Charts Company.
