Calvin Harris Hits New High on Billboard Artist 100 Chart

Calvin Harris skyrockets from No. 45 to No. 8, a new peak, on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated July 22) , fueled by the DJ's fifth studio album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, which arrives at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 68,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 6, according to Nielsen Music.

The Artist 100, which launched in July 2014, measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.

Harris surpasses his previous No. 9 peak on the chart, set in 2014. Album sales contribute the majority of his Artist 100 points (47 percent), followed by streaming (27 percent).

Atop the Artist 100, Bruno Mars rebounds 3-1 to earn his fifth total week as the top musical act in the U.S. Rounding out the top five are Ed Sheeran (4-2); DJ Khaled (2-3); Imagine Dragons (1-4); and Kendrick Lamar (steady at No. 5).

Among other Artist 100 moves, Stone Sour debuts at No. 13, as the rock act's sixth studio album, Hydrograd, opens at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 (33,000 units). Plus, TLC debuts at No. 69, sparked by the release of its Kickstarter-backed self-titled studio album, which debuts at No. 38 on the Billboard 200 (12,000).

Rock and Roll Hall of Famers The Beach Boys also debut on the Artist 100, at No. 88 (with their career having predated the chart's launch by more than a half-century), as their new album 1967: Sunshine Tomorrow starts at No. 145 on the Billboard 200 (5,000 units).
