Three Six Zeros Amy Wheatley Appointed GM of Ministry Of Sound

Amy Wheatley has been appointed general manager of Ministry of Sound Recordings, reporting to managing director Dipesh Parmar and label president David Dollimore.

Wheatley joins the Sony-owned imprint from Three Six Zero, where she was head of U.K. marketing and worked on campaigns for Calvin HarrisTravis ScottHurtsand Skott.

Prior to joining Three Zero Group, Wheatley began her career at Sony, working her way up from production assistant to marketing manager for the U.K. arm of Columbia. In her new role, the exec will be working on campaigns for London Grammar -- who recently enjoyed their first U.K. No. 1 album with sophomore set Truth Is A Beautiful Thing -- as well as Sigala, DJ Fresh, Louis Berry and the label’s recent signing Yogi.

"It's great to be back in the Sony fold," said Wheatley in a statement announcing her appointment, which begins with immediate effect. "Ministry's independent success has been impressive, but now, being under the Sony umbrella, we have even more opportunities," she went on to say.

"Amy has established herself as one of the industry’s rising stars. She is ambitious, strategic and smart. She is the driving force that Ministry needs and I am delighted to have her leading the way for us," added Parmar, who was promoted to managing director of Ministry of Sound Recordings in December as part of a management reshuffle of Sony U.K.’s frontline labels.

Those exec changes saw David Dollimore appointed joint president of RCA U.K. and Ministry of Sound Recordings, reporting to Jason Iley, chairman and CEO, Sony Music U.K. and Ireland. The same month saw Neil Hughes take over as managing director of RCA U.K., succeeding Colin Barlow, who exited the company.

As previously reported, the British arm of Sony Music acquired Ministry of Sound in 2016 for an undisclosed sum, taking ownership of its roster, back catalogue and hugely successful compilations business, which at the time of its sale accounted for approximately one in every six compilation albums sold in the United Kingdom.

Since the release of its first compilation LP, Sessions Vol. 1, mixed by Tony Humphries, in 1993, Ministry has sold around 70 million albums, including over 40 U.K. No. 1 albums and over 20 chart-topping singles.
