Euphoria Dots Top TV Songs Chart, Willie Nelson & Big Little Lies Lead

Rankings for the Top TV Songs chart are based on song and show data provided by Tunefind and ranked using a formula blending that data with sales and streaming information tracked by Nielsen Music during the corresponding period.

Big Little Lies leads the way with an entry from Willie Nelson. The veteran country singer’s cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” which features his daughter, Paula Nelson, debuts at No. 1 on Top TV Songs after its inclusion in the closing moments of the HBO miniseries’ second season finale on July 21.

Interest in the cover was palpable, with the song garnering 17,000 downloads and 1.1 million streams in July 2019, according to Nielsen Music. Interest in the track, originally released on Nelson’s 2013 album To All the Girls…, drove it to a No. 36 debut on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart dated Aug. 3.

Big Little Lies snagged one more appearance on the July 2019 Top TV Songs chart (Donnie & Joe Emerson’s “Baby,” at No. 9, from the fifth episode of the second season), but it was Euphoria, which followed Big Little Lies in HBO’s Sunday night programming, that dominated the tally otherwise, scoring six of the 10 positions.

Having recently wrapped up its first season on Aug. 4, the teen drama featured a much-talked-about soundtrack, and its lead song for July was J.I.D’s “151 Rum,” which enters Top TV Songs at No. 2 with 1,000 downloads and 4.8 million streams. Labrinth’s “Mount Everest” follows at No. 3 (2,000 downloads, 2 million streams).
