Westlife are enjoying a new chart life in the U.K., where the veteran boy band is on track for a first No. 1 for more than a decade.
The Irish act’s eleventh studio LP Spectrum (EMI) rules the Official U.K. Albums Charts Update with a gargantuan lead over its rivals. According to the OCC, the album is outselling the rest of the top 10 combined and had shifted 50,000-plus chart units by the midweek stage.
All of Westlife’s albums have impacted the U.K. top 5, with seven going to the top.
Meanwhile, Celine Dion’s Courage (Columbia) enters the midweek survey at No. 2 and is set to be her highest-charting release since A New Day Has Come crowned the weekly chart back in April 2002.
Another popular ‘90s boy band is flying high at the halfway point as Take That’s new live album Odyssey: Greatest Hits Live (Eagle) opens at No. 3, while new releases from the Kidz Bop Kids (Kidz Bop 2020 at No. 5 via Kidzbop), Chris Kamara (Here’s to Christmas at No. 8 via So What), The Police (Every Move You Make – Studio Recordings via Polydor/UMC at No. 9) and Collabro (Love Like This at No. 10 via BMG) crack the top 10.
Also, David Bowie’s classic 1969 album Space Oddity (Parlophone) re-enters the midweek chart at No. 33 following the release of a 2019 mix by the Thin White Duke’s long-time producer Tony Visconti.
On the Official Singles Chart Update, Tones And I retains top billing with “Dance Monkey” (Bad Batch) and is racing to an eighth consecutive cycle atop the weekly chart. Dua Lipa holds at No. 2 with “Don’t Start Now” (Warner Records) while Billie Eilish enjoys a strong start with “Everything I Wanted” (Interscope), new at No. 3.
