Cyn Starts Off Her Morning With Drinks For Billboard Live At-Home Performance

Cyn celebrated a career milestone with "Drinks" during her Billboard Live At-Home performance Thursday morning (July 9) that raised money for The Loveland Foundation, which provides therapy for communities of color, specifically Black women and girls. But not those kind of drinks.

Her song, which was the lead single on the Promising Young Woman movie soundtrack, has made its rounds on radio airplay and even peaked at No. 31 on Billboard's Mainstream Top 40 Recurrents chart last week (dated July 4). "This song is on radio stations, which is the first time I've had this kind of moment in my little career," the 27-year-old protégé of Katy Perry said while introducing the acoustic arrangement of the song.

Cyn and her guitarist and frequent songwriting partner Matias Mora stripped down her sharp-tongued singsong flow like "taking the Band-Aid and ripping it off," as the lyrics go. But when it came to switching up her flow and squeezing in lyrics such as "Does it feel like I'm sprinkling salt," the two laughed about how they pulled it off during the Billboard Live performance. "It is very early for two creative people," she teased.
