CANTON, OH – Even when everything seems overwhelming and you’re going through an unending darkness, be patient. You’ll get through it.
That’s the sentiment that flows through all the 11 songs on the new mixtape from Midwest artist LiLDTheReaL. Currently available across all streaming platforms, “Under the Ladder” is a powerhouse of inspirational songs that motivate listeners to push through their difficult times and put in the work to attain their dreams.
“If you have the will to keep going until you succeed, you will,” LiLDTheReaL said. “No one can stop you. Even though you seem to be going through a darkness or seeming series of unfortunate events, you will get through it.”
The project is one that LiLDTheReaL has been working on for the better part of the last year, with singles like “That All You Got” that are already creating a buzz throughout much of the U.S. His style is unlike anyone else out there – a signature sound that he said is the “embodiment of the divine presence of real.”
“I’m the realest rapper alive,” he said. “I’m the soul of real. Without me, everything is an illusion. I speak from the heart and the soul. Everybody can say that they do, but this album is gonna show that I really do. I’m encouraging people and uplifting people and helping them see that against all odds. No matter what anyone says about you or what seems to be blocking your way – if you truly give it your all, you will succeed. It may seem insane at first to push yourself to give your all and do what you want to see happening, but as long as you have the will, there will be a way to accomplish your goals. When there’s a will, there’s a way.”
LiLDTheReaL said music has always been a part of who he is. Even at a very young age, he was a deep thinker who turned to music to express everything that was coming from his soul. After his father was tragically gunned down on LiLDTheReaL’s fourth birthday, he was raised by a mother who also loved music. He said he can remember realizing as early as 6 years old how connected he felt to music and how healing it was for him through the years. As he grew up, he began to listen to some of Hip Hop’s legends, especially Lil Wayne. By high school, he had created a group called Flow Kingdom Family, and they recorded songs in a home-built studio in his grandmother’s apartment. Today, Flow Kingdom Family represents artists both in and outside his family such as sister Miss NaeNae, brother Servi Santana, wife Heartz, brother KGThaRapper, brother TayThaKing, and fellow Canton artists $Mon and StoMel600.
“My wife and I have been together for 10 years now and have two intelligent children – a boy and a girl” LiLDTheReaL said. “Going through multiple hardships throughout my life up to now, I’ve gained a lot more energy and emotion for my music. I continue recording my own music in my apartment today. And more than anything else, I want my music to inspire people to just be real regardless of your peers and surroundings. Be yourself.”
