You know your fans are excited when they come up with a cute nickname before there's even anything to slap it on. That was the case over the weekend when Arianators and Lovatics got super-excited about a possible "Dariana" collaboration between Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato after Ari posted some vocals on her Instagram Story on Sunday (March 7) with the caption "backgrounds on a song for a friend."
Based on screen captures of the conversation that ensued, the dynamic duo -- both managed by Scooter Braun -- appeared to fan the flames of speculation when Lovato reposted the video and added a series of six sneaky-eye emoji.
When a fan DM'd Demi asking if Grande was the "last minute collab" Demi has been talking about, she answered with a smiling face emoji.
At press time, spokespeople for both singers had not returned requests for comment on a potential collaboration.
In January, Lovato shared a tweet from Braun in which he wrote "Demi is in the studio," which she shared the following day in an Instagram Story, writing, "*Phone rings - Scooter's calling* Me: Hey can't talk in the booth. @Scooterbraun:"
Lovato's last full-length album was 2017's Tell Me You Love Me, which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.
