The Beatles Love Me Do 7" Single Sells for Nearly $15,000 on Discogs

The Beatles' debut single for Parlophone, "Love Me Do," has sold for $14,757 via the Discogs marketplace, marking a new sales record for any 7" single on the vinyl-focused website.

The single sale fell just $243 short of the all-time record set by a rare double 12" DJ version of Prince's Black Album, which sold for $15,000 last year.

"Love Me Do" was released Oct. 5, 1962. This record is one of only 250 issued with Paul McCartney's name misspelled in the writing credit as "McArtney."

The sale was made on Oct. 9.
