Backstage at the One Voice: Somos Live! event on Saturday, Billboard talked with Latin singer Nicky Jam about the current crisis happening in his home country Puerto Rico.
"It breaks my heart," the singer says. "That's why we're here, that's we're doing this project [One Voice: Somos Live!]."
Nicky Jam sang his song "El Amante" to bring joy back to the people of Puerto Rico. "Music does make people smile and make people have fun," he explains.
The singer also mentioned that while others are helping the cause through music, he wanted to "get my hands dirty." "I'll do my way of helping out Puerto Rico -- getting supplies, making people know that I'm there for them."
