Lil Tecca Nabs First Streaming Songs Leader With Ran$om

Three weeks after scoring his first top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, Lil Tecca has his maiden Streaming Songs No. 1 with “Ran$om.”

“Ran$om” moves 2-1 on the Streaming Songs chart dated Aug. 31, grabbing 52.3 million streams, according to Nielsen Music, in the Aug. 16-22 tracking week. That count is a 21% boost over the Aug. 9-15 period.

The streaming boost for “Ran$om” comes after the Aug. 16 debut of a new official remix of the track that features Juice Wrld, along with the song’s continued gain in popularity over the past few months.

“Ran$om” becomes Lil Tecca’s first Streaming Songs leader, coming in as his first appearance on the tally. He’s the third artist to rule Streaming Songs with his first title to chart, following Lil Nas X (“Old Town Road”) and Jonas Brothers (“Sucker”).

Speaking of “Old Town Road,” the ascent of “Ran$om” means the Billy Ray Cyrus-featuring track’s Streaming Songs rule is either paused or ended at 20 weeks. It’s the longest-running No. 1 in the history of Streaming Songs, which began in 2013, having exceeded the 16-week reign of Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber, earlier this year.

Concurrently, “Ran$om” breaks into the top five of the Hot 100, leaping 8-5 on the Aug. 31-dated tally, while a new entry, “Did It Again,” bows at No. 100.
