SiriusXM is coming to Google Assistant-enabled devices including Google Nest smart speakers and displays over the next week, the companies announced today (Oct. 30).
The update gives Google Assistant users seamless access to SiriusXM's hundreds of commercial-free music channels, plus news, comedy, talk and live sports content. Later this year, SiriusXM will also add video content to the Google Assistant-enabled Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max, including exclusive in-studio performances and artist interviews.
SiriusXM president of sales, marketing and operations Jennifer Witz says that the company now counts more than 30 million subscribers with streaming access.
“The Google Assistant and Google Nest’s portfolio of connected home devices, including the Google Home and Nest Hub, utilize intuitive voice recognition technology that make them a great way for subscribers to experience SiriusXM’s compelling and exclusive content in the home,” Witz says. “Teaming up with Google to deliver great deals on our unparalleled bundle of programming and Google’s outstanding products is a win-win for consumers this holiday season.”
On that note, the companies are sweetening the deal with bundle packages: With the purchase of a Google Nest or Google Home device, eligible customers will also get three months of SiriusXM programming free. And those who already own one of those devices can snag three months of free SiriusXM with the purchase of an All Access or Premier Streaming subscription.
SiriusXM also plans to offer Select, All Access and Premier Streaming options at lower rates, bundled with a Google Nest Hub.
The announcement is the latest team-up between Google and SiriusXM. Earlier this year, the SiriusXM app launched on Android TV, and SiriusXM subscribers can now use Chromecast to stream programming from their phone, tablet or Chrome browser to TVs or speakers.
