Australian act Knife Party (the duo of Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen) debuts on Billboard's Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart (dated Dec. 14) at No. 35 with "Death & Desire," featuring singer Harrison. The act adds its third chart hit over a seven-year span, following "Begin Again" (No. 10, 2015) and "Antidote," with Swedish House Mafia (No. 20, 2012). The new song marks Harrison's first on any U.S.-based chart; featured on Hardwell's "Earthquake," he hit Finland Digital Song Sales (No. 8, 2018) and, as featured on David Guetta and Glowinthedark's "Ain't a Party," he scaled Mexico Ingles Airplay (No. 8, 2013).
"Death" bows thanks to airplay on two core-dance affiliates: SiriusXM's BPM and Music Choice's Dance/EDM channel, according to Nielsen Music. The track hails from Knife Party's Lost Souls EP, which hit No. 7 on Dance/Electronic Album Sales in August.
Geronimo, SiriusXM vp of electronic and dance music programming, tells Billboard, "This was one of the most anticipated releases for our listeners for 2019 and they are loving it. The feedback has been phenomenal and our internal metrics are equally as strong. Numbers aside, it sounds great to have new music from Knife Party back on the air on BPM."
PNAU feat. Ollie Gabriel, "All of Us"
Sydney, Australia native, Los Angeles-based act PNAU (Peter Mayes, Nick Littlemore, of Empire of the Sun, and Sam Littlemore) parades 37-29 in its second week on Dance/Mix Show Airplay with "All of Us," featuring Los Angeles-based singer Ollie Gabriel. The track follows PNAU's "Go Bang" (No. 4, May 2018) and "Changes" (credited as Faul & Wad Ad vs. PNAU; No. 16, 2014) and marks the first Billboard chart appearance for Louisiana native Gabriel. "All" is earning airplay on core-dance affiliates, including KNHC (C89.5) Seattle, KMVQ-HD2 San Francisco and SiriusXM's Chill.
Bombs Away feat. Reigan, "You Gotta Be"
Australian DJ duo Bombs Away (brothers Matthew and Thomas Coleman) barrels 27-21 on Dance Club Songs and debuts at No. 43 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs with "You Gotta Be," a cover of Des'ree's hit that soared to No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1995. Bombs Away, whose remake features a fellow Australian, singer Reigan (aka Reigan Derry, who makes her first chart visit), scores its second and highest-charting track on Dance Club Songs, after "Better Luck Next Time" (No. 46, 2014). The new "You Gotta Be" was remixed by MOTi and Terry McLove, GOLDFRSH and Modern Citizens, among others.
