Fast-rising New York rapper drops confident new mixtape ‘Swag Talk 2’

BROOKLYN, NY – For as long as he can remember, Kasheem Angrum has been naturally gifted at a lot of things. School always came pretty easily, he had a knack for music, and he was a natural born athlete. In high school, he became known for his jump shot on the basketball court, and his dad started calling him Kash. He learned along the way to walk with a certain kind of swagger – not an arrogant, condescending demeanor but rather a self-confident young man who was a natural leader.

That “Swag Talk” comes front and center on his latest mixtape which is currently available across all streaming platforms. Featuring 12 new songs from this fast-rising East Coast artist, “Swag Talk 2” is Kashout sharing his highs and lows of life with his own unique style. The songs are inspired by the lessons he’s learned from the past and the ways in which he’s chosen to better himself.

“It’s just me – my own feeling and rhythm,” he said of the project. “It’s me preaching about my blessings and bragging about my struggles. And mostly, it’s all about me giving the fans an idea of not giving up, but with some swag to it.”

The debut single from the project is a song called “Topic” which is already generating a lot of buzz from longtime fans and new audiences alike. Piggybacking off the idea of his natural swagger, the song takes a braggadocios viewpoint of his lifestyle and how everywhere he goes he becomes the topic of conversation.

“Everybody likes the beat and the rhythm of that song,” Kashout said. “It’s a pretty simple song about me being a topic of discussion. There’s some stuff in there about being betrayed and how now I’m coming up and being persistent in my game.”

Kashout said a lot of artists have inspired him over the years and contributed in small ways to his own signature sound. It was J.Cole who really pushed him to take a leap of faith and push himself when it came to pursuing music as a full-time career. Kashout said he was inspired by the legendary artist to talk about his own pain and express himself through this creative outlet of music.

“I had never really expressed myself like that because I was always a quiet guy,” Kashout said. “He inspired me to tell my story. It was a challenge at first because I had never talked about my pain or written about it. But over time I started finding my voice and rhythm – finding my flow. At the end of the day, I want my music to be known for helping other people to embrace their blessings and learn how to brag about their struggles. Be confident in who you are. People who come across my music and hear it will hear songs about struggles and pain, but also about coming up and taking the next step up. You can shine through the shade and continue on no matter how hard it gets.”

Kashout said following the release of “Swag Talk 2”, he’ll be working on his first full-length album which he plans to release in 2021. On November 6, he’s releasing a music video for a new single titled “Nonstop, one of the tracks from the album.  The song is more about his street life and giving the fans another unique flow.
