Howard Stern has been known for his often-times offensive irreverence throughout his expansive career and in one such instance Wilson Phillips singer Carnie Wilson felt particularly victimized by the shock jock's style.
As Wilson recounted on The Talk on Wednesday (Nov. 8), she appeared on The Howard Stern Show in 1999, just nine weeks after she'd undergone gastric bypass surgery and recently getting engaged to her now-husband Rob Bonfiglio. While backstage, Stern's producer motioned to her to step to a certain spot and wait for Stern to come out. Unbeknownst to Wilson, the spot she was stepping on was actually a scale.
Wilson realized what was happening when she looked up and saw her weight in big red numbers on a screen. When she and her husband appeared on the show, Stern shamed her with comments like asking her husband why he would marry someone her size. "He loves to fat-shame," Wilson said, "It's a joke to him, but it wasn't to me. It was one of the worst experiences I've ever had."
During her appearance on the show, Wilson kept her composure by reminding herself that she has the undying love and support of her husband, but admitted on The Talk that she was devastated afterwards.
