Pres. Trump Lashes Out at Insecure Oprah Winfrey Over 60 Minutes Interview: Hope Oprah Runs So She Can Be Exposed

While vacationing at his Mar-A-Lago resort over the weekend following last week's horrific shooting at a Parkland, Florida, high school, Pres. Trump went on an epic tweet spree, which culminated with an attack on Oprah Winfrey on Sunday night (Feb. 18). The reason for the strike appeared to the former talk show host's appearance in a segment on 60 Minutes in which she revisited a piece she did in the fall where she talked politics with a group of voters from Michigan.

The group, which included 7 Trump supporters, sat down with Winfrey again after the show's producers discovered that despite disagreeing on "virtually everything" the first time around they had stayed in touch and became friends, organizing outings and talking every day in a private Facebook chat group. They gathered again for a discussion about how they feel about Trump now, with both sides taking often predictable stances on the president's actions so far -- including asking about his "shithole" comments about certain countries and the questions about the president's fitness for office -- with Winfrey attempting to spur the conversation while not appearing to make declarative judgments.

The president, however, saw it differently. "Just watched a very insecure Oprah Winfrey, who at one point I knew very well, interview a panel of people on 60 Minutes," he tweeted Sunday night. "The questions were biased and slanted, the facts incorrect. Hope Oprah runs so she can be exposed and defeated just like all of the others!"

Trump reportedly spent much of the weekend angrily watching television newswhile blasting out a stream of tweets that ranged from praise for his "great friends from NASCAR" to attacks on "big ratings loser CNN," claims that Pres. Obama and "Crooked Hillary Clinton" were to blame for the Russian election meddling and criticism of the FBI for missing the warning signs about the Florida shooting because, he said, "they are spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign -- there's no collusion."

Survivors of the high school shooting that killed 17, including 14 children, were livid with Trump's tweets, with CNN reporting that some apparent Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students reacting with anger online. "17 of my classmates are gone. That's 17 futures, 17 children, and 17 friends stolen. But you're right, it always has to be about you. How silly of me to forger. #neveragain," wrote one, with another adding, "17 innocent people were brutally murdered at my school, a place where they should have felt safe. Their lives were gone in an instant. You are the President of the United States and you have the audacity to put this on Russia as an excuse. I guess I should expect that from you."

After sparking hopes that she might run for president after a rousing speech at this year's Golden Globe Awards, Winfrey has recently said that she does not intend to mount a campaign.
