Rapper Lil Skies has signed a worldwide deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing, it was announced today. The 19-year-old Pennsylvania native has become one of 2018's rising artists -- his debut album Life of A Rose scored him his first two Hot 100 hits, "Nowadays" & "Red Roses," as well as a top 10 album on the Billboardcharts.
Last summer, he signed a recording deal with Atlantic Records via Artist Partner Group, then in March, two months after the release of his debut album, he embarked on his first headline tour impressing critics with his stage presence and energy. Previously he released two mixtapes on Soundcloud -- Good Grades Bad Habits and Alone -- gaining some buzz and earning him a following.
"Skies is special. As much as we love what he’s doing right now, I believe he’s only scratching the surface," said Sony/ATV vp, creative Ian Holder in a statement. "I think when we are able to look at his body of work years from now, we’ll find an artist who continues to evolve."
"Signing with Sony/ATV was life changing for me. We are about to make history," said Skies.
