To his parents, he's David Andrew Burd, but to the rap and music world, he's the comedy rapper Lil Dicky and he will be at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles next Monday (Oct. 1). The "White Crime" rapper is sitting down with the museum's artistic director Scott Goldman for a conversation about his career in music and the success of his debut album "Professional Rapper" and his single "Freaky Friday" featuring Chris Brown.
The rapper and actor will take the audience through the highlights of his musical career, which includes nearly a billion streams from the success of songs like "Lemme Freak" and "Pillow Talk" featuring Dicky's alter ego Brain. Dicky has collaborated with some of the biggest stars in rap, working with Snoop Dogg on the song "Professional Rapper" and double platinum single "Save Dat Money" featuring Rich Homie Quan and Fetty Wap.
During last year's Billboard Touring Conference in LA, Burd said he spent his whole life wanting to become a comedian and his only notable public rap performance prior to the launch of Lil Dicky's "Ex-Boyfriend" video was when he was in the fifth grade.
"I remember in fifth grade doing a report on the Russian poet Alexander Pushkinas a rap. It was just an easy way to get an A back then because everyone was turning in boring stuff," Burd said.
